![]() ![]() Maybe it’s just me, but I thought 100’s and A+s were only for the terrific, the inspired. Sure, they could play but most of these people weren’t much more then competent and hardly exciting (we played our solos for the school orchestra so I know how they sound- maybe they played a lot better in front of the judge?). In previous years, I can’t remember more than one or two 100s out of our school, ever. Last year, I missed one note and got 3 points taken off for sight-reading. ![]() This year I played no dynamics and missed several rhythms and only was deducted one (but it was much harder). Has this happened in your counties? I find it dismaying. I know I shouldn't complain that I got a good score, but I really wasn’t that good. I’m probably over-criticizing but this seems very different from the past. However, the judging hasn’t changed much for All-State solos- I did clarinet All-State and also got a 98 (it was infuriating, you have to have a 99 or 100 to get in, I was so close!).
